🏳️‍🌈 LGBTQ+ Friendly Business - Female Sole Trader

Hey!👋

Thanks for stopping by and getting to know me. I’m Emily, a qualified horticulturalist with five years of varied experience under my belt.

2021 sparked a year of change for me, and I decided to pursue a career in gardening. I initially volunteered at Sudeley Castle gardens but soon found a seasonal position at Cotswold Garden Flowers Nursery. To fill in the gaps, I trialled out some freelance gardening for a short period before landing a temporary role at Reed Business School. While there, I soon became the resident apprentice gardener and studied my Level 2 Horticulture qualification at Pershore College.

At Reed, I was able to further develop my skills and knowledge within the well-manicured arts and craft gardens. Our seasonal jobs would consist of herbaceous and shrub border maintenance, propagation, hedgecutting, annual lambing and livestock care, lawn maintenance, and seasonal event preparations such as the National Garden Scheme open day.

After nearly four years at Reed, I was keen to expand my horticultural knowledge, specifically in growing for the table, rather than for the borders. I landed a role in the beautiful walled garden at the Abbotswood Estate. There, I worked closely with the Walled Garden Manager to maintain both ornamental borders and the large varieties of fruit and vegetable beds.

Within the walled garden, I assisted with the primary tasks: sustaining the large cutflower bed, sowing seeds for the seasons ahead, harvesting fruits and vegetables, and flower arranging for the house. We also practised organic methods, such as no-dig, to help maintain the produce beds and achieve great crop results.

Now, I apply the broad skill set I’ve gained through my horticultural career path and channel my passion for invigorating clients’ green spaces so they can relish their gardens year-round.
